Kwa-Zulu Natal is home to a quarter of South Africa’s children, 85% of who are under the age of five
and have no access to any form of early child development programmes. Avon Peaking Power understands the
importance of early childhood development; therefore, the company has been supporting Training and Resources
in Early Education (TREE).
Together with Avon Peaking Power, TREE has been working with 20 ECD
sites in the Shakaskraal area to provide capacity building through the training of ECD practitioners.
According to TREE, their various integrated programmes reaches and improves the quality of life as well as
educational potential for over 140,000 children.
The TREE training programme seeks to develop and empower fledging, under-resourced and marginalised ECD sites into sustainable,
quality early childhood education centres. TREE’s Programmes are designed to meet the developmental needs for children, giving them
a better start in life. Avon Peaking Power believes that through empowering ECD practitioners, they will contribute to building a solid
foundation for our future leaders

high School who will continue with the programme during 2018, in their grade 12 year.
The objective of the programme is to and develop the character of leaners through life skills programmes for people to become
responsible Valued Citizens determined to lead their lives engaging with our democracy and contributing towards South African economy.
As a result of the programme, the leaners from Guzana and Groutville High Schools have become effective communicators,
which makes them address challenging situations more effectively and in appropriate ways. The learners have also gained great confidence. Sharpening of soft skills will make the learners gradually become strong influencers in the lives of others becoming the role model they all wished to have.
